William Wasserman, A Wildlife Trooper In Alaska, Dedicated His Life To Protecting The State's Wildlife. Poacher Justice William Wasserman

William Wasserman was a man of the wild. Born in 1937 in a small town in Alaska, Wasserman developed a deep love for the state's pristine wilderness at a young age. He spent his childhood exploring the forests and rivers near his home, and he quickly learned the importance of conservation.

In 1957, Wasserman joined the Alaska Department of Fish and Game as a Wildlife Trooper. He was assigned to the remote village of Tok, where he was responsible for enforcing fish and game laws over a vast area of wilderness. Wasserman quickly gained a reputation as a fearless and dedicated officer. He was known for his ability to track down poachers and his willingness to go the extra mile to protect Alaska's wildlife.

In 1960, Wasserman was involved in one of the most famous cases of his career. He was called to investigate the illegal killing of a moose in the Denali National Park. After a long and difficult investigation, Wasserman tracked down the poacher and apprehended him. The poacher was found guilty and sentenced to prison.

Wasserman's work as a Wildlife Trooper was not without its dangers. In 1967, he was shot and wounded by a poacher while on patrol. Despite the injury, Wasserman continued to work as a Wildlife Trooper for many years. He retired in 1985, but he continued to work as a conservation advocate until his death in 2016.

Wasserman's legacy as a conservationist is immense. He was instrumental in the development of Alaska's fish and game laws, and he played a crucial role in safeguarding the state's abundant natural resources. He was a true pioneer in the field of wildlife protection, and his work continues to inspire conservation efforts today.

In recognition of his lifelong dedication to wildlife protection, Wasserman was awarded the prestigious Teddy Roosevelt Conservation Award in 1986. He was also inducted into the Alaska Wildlife Troopers Hall of Fame in 2002.

William Wasserman was a true hero for Alaska's wildlife. His dedication to conservation and his unwavering commitment to protecting the state's natural resources will never be forgotten.
