Everett Lawrence Glenn was born on September 27, 1897, in Columbus, Georgia. He was the son of former slaves, and his family was poor. Despite the challenges he faced, Glenn was a bright and determined child. He excelled in school and dreamed of becoming an engineer.

After graduating from high school, Glenn attended Tuskegee Institute, where he studied mechanical engineering. He was one of the first African Americans to attend the prestigious school. While at Tuskegee, Glenn met George Washington Carver, the renowned agricultural scientist. Carver became a mentor to Glenn and encouraged him to pursue his dreams.

In 1917, the United States entered World War I. Glenn joined the Army and was assigned to the 92nd Infantry Division. He served in France and was awarded the Croix de Guerre for his bravery. After the war, Glenn returned to Tuskegee and completed his engineering degree.

In 1923, Glenn moved to Chicago and founded the Glenn Engineering Company. The company specialized in the design and manufacture of aircraft parts. Glenn's company was one of the first African American-owned businesses in the aviation industry.

In 1928, Glenn became a licensed pilot. He was one of the first African Americans to earn a pilot's license. Glenn used his flying skills to promote aviation among African Americans. He organized flying clubs and taught young people how to fly.

In 1931, Glenn founded the Glenn Tractor Company. The company manufactured tractors and other agricultural equipment. Glenn's tractors were designed to be affordable and easy to operate. They were a major success among African American farmers.

Glenn was a successful businessman and inventor. He held over 100 patents for his inventions. He was also a philanthropist and supported many educational and charitable organizations.

Everett Lawrence Glenn died on February 27, 1964. He was 66 years old. He was a pioneer in the aviation and manufacturing industries. He was also a role model for African Americans and an inspiration to all who knew him.

Legacy

Everett Lawrence Glenn's legacy lives on today. His inventions and businesses continue to make a difference in the world. The Glenn Tractor Company is still in operation today, and its tractors are used by farmers around the world.
